TEMPO.CO, Malang - Malang Muhammadiyah University is the only university in East Java that received an A rating from the institutional accreditation of National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) Ministry of Education and Culture in 2013.
Head of Public Relations UMM, Nasrullah, said, in 2012, none of the 14 colleges that receive accreditation certificate A. This year, as many as 28 universities assessed BAN-PT and UMM rank or value A with seven other universities. All is applicable accreditation ratings of five years from 2013 to 2018.
There are 8 winners of universities for rank A, five of them are state universities (Institut Teknologi Bandung, Bogor Agricultural University, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Indonesia and Universitas Hasanuddin). While two private colleges are UMM and Universitas Islam Indonesia, Yogyakarta. Universities in Malang who got first rank A accreditation is UB.
"Alhamdulillah,
the A of rank or institutional accreditation makes us proud and would be a big
challenge for us to maintain as well as continuing to improve the quality of
education. Previously, we were able to rank B for five years," said Nasrullah,
Wednesday, March 6, 2013.
As
the result, final score 364 UMM got rated A as stated in the Decree of the
Ministry of Education and Culture No. 074/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-IV/PT/II/2013 dated
February 21, 2013, signed by the Chairman of BAN-PT Mansur Ramli. This decree is received by UMM
yesterday.
A
ranking of receipt, said Nasrullah, means that UMM become one of the leading
colleges and excel that gets right to greater autonomy, such as the right to
select the research proposals from academic community UMM to the Directorate
General of Higher Education and eligible for special grant funds for accredited
universities A,
such as grants from the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of the
Interior, and the Ministry of Research and Technology.
